LAHORE: Punjab Advocate General Muhammad Hanif Khatana on Tuesday resigned from the office citing personal reasons.
Mr Khatana was appointed assistant advocate general during the Musharraf regime in 1999.
He was promoted as additional advocate general and appointed as Punjab AG in 2014 when the Lahore High Court had given a ruling against appointment of Mustafa Ramday as the principal law officer of the province.
He spent the longest period of service at the advocate generals` office due to his pliable attitude. He enjoyed good relations with rulers during both military and political regimes.
Sources say Mr Khatana decided to quit the office as the government is going to appoint a new AG.-Staff Reporter
