Widespread rain forecast

LAHORE: A strong westerly system started generating rain and snowfall over the hills in many cities, including Lahore, on Tuesday.
The system that had entered Pakistan through Balochistan is likely to give widespread rain, at times heavy, in most parts of the country, including Lahore, in the next 24 hours.
According to the Met department, Parachinar received 92mm of rain, Chitral 52, Malam Jabba 51, Drosh 46, Dir and Garhi Dupatta 35 (each), Pattan 31, Kalam 26, Muzaffarabad 24, Balakot and Rawalakot 22(each), Samungli (Quetta) and Islamabad airport 21(each), Mirkhani 20, Murree 19, Kakul 13, Saidu Sharif and Lower Dir 12(each), Astore and Islamabad Zero Point 11(each), Chilas 10, Chakwal 7, Kotli and Mangla 6(each), Peshawar City 5, Lahore City, Jhelum, Zhob and Johrabad 3(each), Gujranwala, Kasur and Mandi Bahauddin2(each). It forecast cloudy weather with thunderstorm/ rain along with chances of isolated relative heavy falls and hailstorm at some places in Lahore in the next 24 hours.
Widespread thunderstorm/ rain with snowfall over the hills will occur over Fata, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northern Punjab (including Islamabad), Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. Further, isolated to scattered thunderstorm/rain with snowfall over the hills may come about over Kallat, Quetta, Sibbi, Zhob, Karachi, Larkana divisions and southern Punjab.
There are vast chances of scattered heavy falls over Bajour, Mehmand, Khyber, Kurrum, Aurakzai agencies, Rawalpindi (including Islamabad), Gujranwala divisions, Upper and Central Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir along with upper catchments of the Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej rivers.
The rain is likely to raise the water level of these rivers and their nullahs.
There are chances of hailstorm in the plains and land sliding in the hilly areas.
