CM sets timeline for Peshawar rapid bus transit project

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has set timelines for different packages of the rapid bus transit project and asked the relevant authorities to fulH1 all requirements for initiation and expeditious completion of the project.
He said that tenders should be floated for the first two packages of the project by April 15 and the third package by April 30. He said that evaluation of the project should be completed within eight days and mobilisation in 15 days, according to an official statement issued here on Friday.
Mr Khattak directed the Peshawar Development Authority to ask FWO for timely completion of the service roads and utilities under the project.

The chief minister was presiding over a meeting regarding the rapid bus transit pro-ject, which was attended by chief secretary Abid Saeed, administrative secretaries, head of the strategic support unit and representatives of the Asian Development Bank.
The meeting was briefed about the practical steps so far taken under the project. Three depots would be established at the main Chamkani terminal, Dabgari Garden and Hayatabad for the parking, workshop and allied services required for the project.
He directed to expedite land acquisition at different sites of the project, including depots.
He also directed to allocate Rs700 million for the land acquisition. At least 380 vehicles of different sizes would be required for the project.
He asked the relevant authorities to plan commercial activities, including parking plazas, adding that the award should be given through competitive bidding.
He said that all work should be time-bound.
He said that work on the project should continue round-the-clock and the depots and shopping plazas should have enough space for commercial activities so that the project could be run on commercial lines.
The chief minister said that the traffic prob-lems in Peshawar were fast becoming a challenge and therefore the project needed to be started and completed as expeditiously as possible.
This project would integrate all the eight routes of Peshawar and ease traffic congestion.
District nazim Arbab Asim would be the chief executive of the company of the project and the Asian Development Bank would provide the financial help.
The provincial government would provide one time budget for the project. Meanwhile, the chief minister said that PTI would emerge as the single largest party as people from all walks of life were reposing confidence in policies of the provincial government.
He was talking to a representative delegation of Dassu tehsil of Kohistan district at the CM House here. MPAs Maluana Asmatullah and Shaukat Yousafzai, PTI divisional president Zar Gul Khan, former MNA Himayatullah Khan and tehsil nazim Noor Wali were also present on the occasion.
On this occasion, the chief minister welcomed former PPP MPA Mehmood Alam from Kohistan who announced joining PTI along with his supporters.lems in Peshawar were fast becoming a challenge and therefore the project needed to be started and completed as expeditiously as possible.
