US diplomat attends Lincoln Corner inaugural

TOBA TEK SINGH: The US consul general in Lahore, William K Makaneole, attended the inauguration of the Lincoln Corner on the new campus of the Government College University, Faisalabad, on Friday.
The function was presided over by Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Shahid Kamal who also discussed joint projects for mutual cooperation and educational promotion through Lincoln Corners established on both campuses of the university in collaboration with the US embassy.
Executive in charge of Lincoln Corner Prof Dr Mazhar Hayat and Kanza Umar Khan briefed the guests about the performance of Lincoln Corner and the future plans.
The US consul general said that Lincoln Corner in Pakistan provides a platform for open dialogue, mutual understanding, prosperity, and strengthening people-to-people relations between Pakistanis and Americans through various programmes.
He said that Lincoln Corner`s programmes and resources attract university students, academics, journalists, researchers, and the youth.
Dr Kamal said that Lincoln Corner provides modern resources and opportunities to the students and youth of this area for learning and future development, and through this, the university students are now able to equip themselves with diverse competitive skills.
He also reiterated that Lincoln Corner should be widely expanded to create future opportunities for the youth of Faisalabad.
The US diplomat also visited Gojra Catholic Church on Samundri Road, a high school and the international hockey stadium, where hockey team players briefed him about the sport.
