MARDAN: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Haji Ghulam Ali has said that country is going through a very critical juncture of its history, and in such a situation announcing a date for the elections will increase the country`s difficulties manifold.

He expressed these views during a press conference held at the office of Mardan Chamber of Commerce and Industry here on Friday.

Mr Ali, however, said he would accept whatever decision the Supreme Court of Pakistan made in its suo motu action on elections.

However, the governor said the apex court won`t pass an order, which caused `panic and lawlessness` in the country.

Mr Ali said an irreparable damage had been done to the principles of politics over the last four years. He claimed the PTl leadership did not take his advice seriously to not dissolve the provincial assembly, but now they were feeling `ashamed of their decision`.

`I am trying my level best to gather all political parties on one platform with the purpose to find out a reasonable solution to their political differences,` he claimed.

The governor admitted under the Constitution, elections must be held within 90 days after dissolution of an assembly.

He went on to say that they were fully prepared to tackle the `court arrest` movement of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, adding the movement was bound to fail.

He accused the former prime minister Imran Khan of violating the IMF agreement, and now the whole nation was being punished for his act.

Ghulam Ali alleged the former prime minister and his government were responsible for inflation and devaluation of the rupee against the dollar because of his `bad policies`.
