Intelligence official shot dead in Oghi

MANSEHRA: An official of an intelligence agency was shot dead by an unidentified attacker in Oghi tehsil here on Tuesday.
The victim identified as Ali Asghar was on way to office on a motorbike when an unknown gunman appeared in front of him near the government high school, Oghi, and opened fire on him, leaving him seriously injured. Asghar, who received six bullets, died while being shifted to the Combined Milit ary Hospit al, Abbottabad. The attacker escaped the area.
`We have started investigation and took over a dozen suspects into custody during a search and strike operation following the incident, DIG Hazara division, Akhtar Hayat Khan Gandapur, told reporters after visiting the crime scene.
`Initially we are investigating the motives behind the killing and those involved in the incident would be traced and taken to justice,` he added.
The body was dispatched to the native village after his funeral prayers were held at FF centre in Abbottabad.
Meanwhile, a woman allegedly killed her two-year-old son in Oghi in the early hours on Tuesday.
The police quoting Abdul Qayyum, father-in-law of the suspect, Nagina Bibi, said that the woman locked herself and her son in a room and stabbed her little son to death. He said that when they broke open the door after hearing cries of the child they found Nagina standing beside the body holding a blood-stained dagger. The complainant said that Nagina was mother of two children.
An official at Darband police station said FIR was registered under section 302 of PPC against Nagina Bibi and that she would be arrested as soon as she regained her senses.
HOUSING PROJECT: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf MPA Nargis Bibi has said that she would take up the issue of New Balakot City (NBC) project with the chief minster so that work on it could start without delay.
`It is unfortunate that NBC mega housing project initiated in 2007 for survivors of 2005 earthquake couldn`t be completed even after eight years of its launching.-Correspondent
