Four drivers of Taftan buses test positive for Covid-19

MULTAN: Four drivers of the buses which brought the pilgrims returning from Iran from Taftan border to quarantine centre at DG Khan tested positive for coronavirus on Tuesday.
According to an of ficial handout issued here, results of 76 other drivers and conductors involved in transportation of pilgrims were found negative. It said screening of seven drivers and helpers was yet to be conducted.
It stated that the infected drivers had been shifted to Recep Tayyip ErdoganHospital Muzaffargarh where they were under treatment.
`The blood samples of 1,187 pilgrims have also been sent to Lahore for laboratory tests,` the handout said.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Aamer Khattak along with other officers of the district administration visited various spots in the city to check the implementation of section 144.
Talking to people who were found violating the section 144, the DC warned them of strict action and told them toabide by the law.
He said if the people did not cooperate with the government, the district administration would have no other option but to arrest them. The DC urged the philanthropists to come forward and donate protective material for the government staff working in quarantine centres.
He said instead of donating cash, they should provide hazmat suits, masks, sanitisers and gloves to the staff, besides supplying food to the pilgrims and ration to the poor in the district.-Staff Correspondent
