CHITRAL: A new political group, Pamir Wisdom Party,was formed here on Wednesday with its leader promising speedy development of the area.

Founding chairman of the party Syed Shahzada Ibrahim Shah tolda presser here that all political parties had betrayed the people of Chitral after coming to power, so there was a need for a political party owned by the people to steer them to development. He said his party would participate in the next general elections and join governments in the centre and province for the region`s development.

`The people of Chitral have always wanted a [positive] change in their lives. We, being an agent of change, will gain popularity within a short period of time. More and more people from different valleys are contacting us to join the party,` he said.

Mr Shah said the party`s flag had white, green and purple colours signifying peace, amity, and unique geography and rich civilisation of the area, respectively.

RESENTMENT: Youth of Upper Chitral district on Wednesday resented restriction on sports events in Kagh Lushtplateau,including SpringFestival.

Saifuddin, one of the organisers of the past festivals, told Dawn over the telephone from Booni that the restriction was uncalled-for that had sent shock waves through the district, whose youth waited for the festival throughout the extended winter season.

He said there was no fear of the spread of coronavirus in the Kagh Lusht plateau, where the virus positivity rate had dropped drastically.

When contacted, assistant commissioner of Mastuj area Shah Adnan said the restriction was imposed as part of measures to stem the spread of coronavirus. Correspondent
