LAKKI MARWAT: The residents of Dhoda village have demanded the opening of a middle school and a dispensary in the area to get an access to healthcare and education.

The demand was made during an open kutcheri organised by the district administration here on Wednesday.

Deputy commissioner Abdul Haseeb, additional AC Ishaq Ali Khan, district police officer Imran Khan and officials of the relevant departments attended the event.

The residents said the village didn`t have middle and high schools forcing the locals to go to schools in other areas for formal learning.

They also complained about a shortage of teachers in both boys and girls primary schools of the area and demanded the appointment of staff and upgradation of the primary school to the middle level.

A local elder complained that patients from the village had togo to the Ahmadkhel rural health centre for diagnosis and treatment.

While demanding provision of healthcare to the villagers on their doorstep, he also called for the supply of subsidised wheat flour.

The residents demanded funds for the repair of roads, solarisation of water schemes and construction of dykes.

They demanded a crackdown on anti-social elements and drug traffickers.

The deputy commissioner issued orders to the relevant officials for the early resolution of the people`s problems.

He promised the early appointment of teachers to the schools and asked officials to tal(e up the school upgradation issue with the relevant authorities for approval.

Mr Haseeb assured the residents of the repair of tubewells and solarisation of water schemes.

ENCROACHMENTS: The district administration removed encroachments from alongside the Naserkhel Canal in Naurang town on Wednesday.

Assistant commissioner Umarbin Riaz and additional AC Aminullah Khan supervised the crackdown, which was carried out on the complaint of the irrigation department about the illegal structures put up alongside theNaserkhel Canal.

The anti-encroachment squad of the tehsil municipal administration and employees of the revenue and irrigation department removed those encroachmentsfrom the Irrigation Colony to the Parade Groundwith the help of machinery. The additional assistant commissioner promised strict action against land grabbers and encroachers.
