Over 80 cases of street crime reported in Pindi

RAWALPINDI: More than 80 incidents of street crime were reported to the police in which 19 people lost their motorcycles, five other vehicles, 51 mobile phones, gold jewellery and a large sum of money, police and the victims said.

Potohar Division and Rawal Divisions were the worst crime-hit areas where most of the mobile phones and motorcycles were stolen.

Shahriyar Khan, who deals in mobile phones, lodged an FIR with the Rawat police saying that two persons snatched his bag containing two Iphones worth Rs800,000 in Bahria Town on Thursday.

Iqrarullah complained to the police that burglars broke into his shop and took away cash and cigarettes worth Rs275,000. Shamroz Khan told police that Rs300,000 and 14 tola gold jewellery worth Rs2800,000 were stolen by by burglars from his house in Morgah area.

Ijaz Hussain`s daughter was on way to a pharmacy when a motorcycle rider snatched her purse containing Rs25,000 and a cell phone in Jhanda Chichi. Mohammad Asghar Qureshi was robbed of Rs80,000 and a cell phone worth Rs60,000 by two motorcycle riders in Naseerabad.Mohammad Awais was robbed of Rs10,000 and a mobile phone by two motorcycle riders in Naseerabad, Mohammad Zaheem was also deprived of his cell phone by two motorcycleriderswhileMohammad Noshad, a grocery shop owner, was robbed of Rs35,000 and cell phone cards worth Rs30,000 by two robbers in Westridge.

Asim Mehmood was robbed of Rs12,000 and a cell phone worth Rs30,000 by two robbers in Westridge while Saadullah said two robbers snatched his mobile phone in Ratta Amral.

Mirza Abdul Qudoos complained to the Westridge police that he and his colleague were going home in a motorcycle when two persons intercepted them and held them at gunpoint. He said the robbers snatched their motorcycle, Rs12,000 and two mobile phones.

Bilal Babar Ali, Bahadur Khan, Faisal Nisar, Tariq Mehmood, Ahmad Ali Khan, Mohammad Asim, Fazale Haq, Navee d Khan, Mohammad Nasir, Awais Javaid, Bilal Ahmad, Dr Hassan Shakir, Israel, Ismail and Awais Khalid were among those whose motorcycles and rick-shaws were lifted from different areas.
