ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has planned an anti-encroachment operation to retrieve its land in Bhekha Syedan area of F-11.
The CDA`s deputy director general enforcement on Friday through a letter requested the deputy commissioner (DC) and senior superintendent of police (SSP) operations for magisterial cover and police support.
`CDA`s land in village Bhekha Syedan Sector F-11 is in adverse possession and needs to be vacated in order to develop remaining part of F-11 as per approved master plan of Islamabad,` read the letter.
An official of the CDA said the operation was planned for Monday, provided the civic agency gets support from the police and administration. A few days ago, Justice Babar Sattar of Islamabad High Court directed the CDA to retrieve land from encroachers.
The CDA`s counsel had told the court that out of 322 there were 15 people eligible to receive land in lieu of their Built-Up Properties (BuPs) in accordance with the award dated October 10, 1985. He stated that after ascertainment of the fact that BuP had been handed over to CDA, land as compensation against the BuP was to be allotted.
The member estate informed the court that the CDA faced resistance from residents whenever it tried to verify the BuPs for compensation, or sometimes lower courts issued restraining orders. Justice Sattar wondered how lower courts could grant a stay order in the matter that was pending before the high court. The court had directed the CDA chairman to verify facts about possession of land and submit a report by March 28. Staff Reporter
