ECP allows IG requisition for police promotions

LAHORE: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has granted approval to the requisition of the Punjab Police department to initiate promotion process of the police officers in various ranks.

The requisition was sent by Punjab Inspector General Police Dr Usman Anwar for promotion to clear the pending cases of the police officers, including DSPs, inspectors and sub-inspectors.

Following the ECP approval, the IGP directed the police officers concerned to prepare the list of the officers before holding the meetings of the promotion boards and committees.

Presiding over a meeting regarding holding of the promotion boards, he directed them to complete the process ofdepartmental promotions from DSP to SP, inspectortoDSPandsubinspector to inspector ranks as soon as possible to fill the vacant posts.

Dr Usman said that all the regional police officers concerned, besides city and district police officers, should also arrange promotion board meetings at the earliest for promotions from constable to assistant sub-inspector rank in their concerned districts and regions.

While issuing instructions, he said no obstacle would be tolerated in the way of promotion of eligible employees on merit and seniority, inquiring about the schedule of the board sessions from the officers.

He directed that additional IG establishment, DIG headquarters, establishment, and AIG admin should ensure the immediate holding of the sessions.
