LAHORE: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of police claimed on Monday to have arrested three members of a banned outfit Jamaatul Ahrar (JA) from Gujranwala and recovered explosives from their possession.

A CTD spokesman said they received information that some militants belonging to Jamaatul Ahrar were present in Galla Sarwar Maharwala near Alam Chowk and were planning to attack some sensitive installation.

He said the CTD team raided the place, arrested three militants and also recovered 2,395 grams of explosives, 100ft detonating cord, three detonators and Rs3,200 cash from them.

He said a case was registered against the suspected militants under Section 11-F (2), 7-ATA, 4/5 ESA at the Gujranwala CTD police station.-Reporter
