Light rain, thunderstorms likely

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department said on Sunday dust-raising winds with light rain and thunderstorm are expected in isolated places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper Punjab, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan during the next 24 hours.

Hot and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country.

According to the synoptic situation, a shallow westerly wave was affecting upper parts of the country and may persist until Monday, an official at the Met Office explained.During the last 24 hours, weather remained hot and dry in most parts of the country. However, rain, wind and thunderstorm were recorded in isolated places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

During the period, 8 millimetres of rainfall had been recorded in Parachinar and 2mm in areas of Upper Dir.

Maximum highest temperature of 45 degrees Celsius was recorded in Jacobabad and Mohenjo-Daro, followed by 44 degrees Celsius in Shaheed Benazirabad, Khairpur, Chhor, Rohri, Padidan, Larkana and Dadu.-APP
