Indifferent SSGC

2023-04-25
THIS is with reference to the article `Supremely fractured` and the letter `SSGC`s apathy` (April 3). The injustice being done to the writer of letter by the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) is one of the typical examples of how the common man is treated in the country.

Such a complaint in the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia or the United Arab Emirates would not have been required to be lodged in the first place, what to talk of writing in a national daily after the sufferer ended in the blind alley. If an affectee opted to go to the court in such countries, a prompt relief will be available for sure. As such, there would be no need to resort to writing a letter to the editor of a mainstream daily.

In Pakistan, if the gentleman gathers enoughcourage togotothe court (consumer court) with the complaint, he will have to wait for a possible relief by next winter at the earliest and if at all.

Should we expect the Sindh High Court chief justice to intervene? He may call the writer, have the facts verified, and then call everyone from the SSGC chief to the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) head and make them sit in the court till the supply of natural gas to the gentleman`s house is restored.

Such a relief will earn tremendous love and respect for the judiciary among the masses, and no one will dare discuss or criticise the honourable judges. Also,no one will need to pick up the dictionary to find the meaning of the word `justice`.
