Woman SHO held for keeping pistol recovered from suspect

LAHORE: The station house officer (SHO) of the Lytton Road Women Police Station has been arrested allegedly for illegally possessing a firearm a 9mm pistol which was recovered from a suspect arrested in a robbery.

The action was initiated on the order of Operations DIG Faisal Kamran under zero-tolerance policy against abuse of power, corruption, and misconduct within the police force.

A spokesperson for the Lahore police said that a pistol used in a robbery was recovered from the residence of the SHO, SubInspector Saniya`s residence.

Giving details, he said a suspect involved in a robbery in Kahna area revealed to the police high-ups that he had used a 9mm pistol in a street crime, adding that the weapon was in the illegal custody of the woman SHO.

Acting on this information, a police team raided the house of the SHO and recovered the pistol.

Following the findings of the inquiry report, the DIG ordered registration of a case against the SI Saniya and her arrest.

The DIG said that strict accountability is being ensured for the police officers and personnel who bring disrepute to the department.

He said no one will be spared from the process of accountability, adding that actions under the reward and punishment policy will continue in Punjab police without any discrimination.
