QUETTA: Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani on Friday approved a policy for expanding the Balochistan Food Authority (BFA) and vowed to act against sale of unhygienic food items in the province.
He ordered the BFA`s director general retired Major Bashir Ahmed to submit in the next meeting recommendations for establishing different committees.
The chief minister reviewed the BFA`s performance and took decisions to make it more affective.
`The people have now gained access to fresh edible items, but we have to make extra efforts to ensure provision of quality food to the people of our province,` Mr Kamal said.
He said the provincial government would launch a crackdown against themafia selling unhealthy food items to innocent citizens.
The BFA`s director general briefed the meeting about actions taken by the authority against shopkeepers, departmental stores, restaurants and hotels involved in selling unhygienic food items.
Provincial minister Zamarak Khan and representatives of the government and private sector also attended the meeting.
Meanwhile, the chief minister met a delegation of the Balochistan Engineers Association.
During the meeting, he asked the engineers and people from all walks of life to coordinate with public representatives and government officials and suggest development projects in their areas for the next financial year.-Staf f Correspondent
