Siraj blames lawlessness, on PDM, PTI govts

Bureau Report 2023-05-25
PESHAWAR: Jamaat-iIslami emir Sirajul Haq on Wednesday lashed out at his political opponents and said both Pakistan Democratic Movement parties and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf didn`t fulfil their commitments after coming to power and instead, their policies caused unprecedented price hike, massive unemployment, and lawlessness in the country. He asked the people to vote for his party in the next general elections to overcome corruption and enforce Islamic system of governance in the country.

Addressing a workers convention at Nishtar Hall here, the JI chief said people should vote for his party in the forthcoming elections to raise and resolve their real issues for their development.

He said the PTI and PDM parties were fighting for power, while the JI was the only party that had a concrete plan to resolve the issues facing the people.

`The main issue of the entire nation is the economy to provide financial relief to the pov-erty-hit people,` he said.

Mr Siraj said the successive governments never paid attention towards the real issue of the poor people and instead, they accumulated the national wealth with both hands and shifted it to foreign banks, which led the country to bankruptcy.

Highlighting the problems of different provinces, he said the federal government was reluctant to release the share of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan in the national resources, so the people in those federating units faced multiple issues.

`The provincial governments have failed to raise a forceful voice for rights of thedeprived provinces and that is why the centre doesn`t pay heed to its responsibilities by providing due share in the NFC, net hydel profit and other resources,` he said.

The JI chief said it was the basic right of all citizens to getproperfood, educate their children and lead prosperous life but the rulers were unable to provide the required due facilities to the people, so a sense of deprivation was fast increasing.

Mentioning the recent suicide attack on him, Mr Siraj said it was duty of the government to ensure foolproof security to the people without discrimination.

He said all provinces, espe-cially Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, were full of natural resources but they were not given their due rights.

`All people should join the Jamaat-i-1slami in its efforts to resolve their issues effectively,` he said.

Earlier, the participants warmly welcomed Mr Siraj on arrival at the venue by throwing rose petals. It was Mr Siraj`s first visit to the provincial metropolis after the suicide attempt on his life in Baluchistan last week.

Several other office-bearers of the party shared views on the occasion and urged the people to support JI candidates in the next general elections.
