Risk-reduction training sessions in Bara

LANDI KOTAL: The World Food Programme in collaboration with the Sarhad Rural Support Programme has started a series of three-day risk reduction training sessions in Bara.

The first session was arranged at New Attari village of Kamar Khel area which was attended by 134 local residents.

Speaking on the occasion, SRSP team leader Amir Khan Afridi apprised the participants about the importance of the programme, while training coordinator Sajid Inam Khattak said the training would help take precautionary measures before a natural calamity struck, and also tackle the post-disaster situation.

Sajid Khattak said the prime objective of holding such training sessions was to sensitise local population about helping in restoring normal life after such natural disasters and to raise awareness about minimising the damage during and after the disasters.

He said 1,000 disaster kits would be distributed among local residents at village level, while Rs6,000 would be distributed among the participants of such trainings.
