PML-N workers protest nomination of ex-MNA for PP-18

2018-06-25
RAWALPINDI: Despite unity shown by PML-N leaders a few days ago, scores of workers held a protest in Dhoke Ratta against the nomination of former MNA Malik Shakil Awan for PP-18.

The protesters, who were supporters of former MPA Ziaullah Shah, burnt the election posters and banners of the PML-N ticket holder.

They demanded the party withdraw the decision to give ticket to Mr Awan. Later, the protesters dispersed peacefully.

Mohammad Saleem, a party worker from College Road, said the PML-N should field local candidates from the city area who knew the workers. He said in the past the party failed to accommodate local candidates and lost the elections.

“The PML-N made an unpopular decision in the last elections and failed to elect its candidate even though it had a majority of voters and supporters in the area,” said Mohammad Khurram from Iqbal Road.—Aamir Yasin
