SAHIWAL: Fifteen price magistrates were issued notices for their f ailure to check overpricing of different commodities in their respective areas.

There are 35 magistrates for price control and other consumer-related assignments in the district.

DC Khizer Iqbal sought an explanation from 15 of them for non-compliance with the official rate list in markets. The notices wereissued to Javed Mahmood (tehsildar), Dr Abdul Rehman (veterinary officer), Adnan Shaheen (naib tehsildar), AFCs Azhar Hussain and Muhammad Mushtaq, Chichawattani naib tehsildar Ahmed Ali, Maqsood Ahmed (agriculture), Athar Farooq (DOR), Muhammad Saeed (AC), Kaleem Yousaf (labour assistant director), Mudasir Nazir (PHA),Mahar Liaqat Ali (agriculture), Rai Muhammad Yasin, (agriculture), Labbah Masih (AC) and Azhar Deewan (DDLG).

The magistrates were given training but their performance was not on par from June 10 to 23.

The DC visited dif ferent milk shops along with the District Food Authority officials and fined shops for selling poor quality milk. Correspondent
