ISL AMABAD: With the current National Assembly set to complete its tenure by the middle of August, Pakistan People`s Party (PPP) is gearing up for the general elections.
The party`s secretary general, Syed Nayyer Hussain Bokhari, has constituted boards for all districts of all provinces. The boards comprise district organisations, members of CEC, federal council and provincial councils as well as the presidents of PYO, PSF, women wing, labour wing, traders wing and minority wing.
The secretary general has directed the district election boards to submit their recommendations to him for national and provincial assembly seats in their districts within 15 days.
On the other hand, Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Shazia Marri on Saturday said the PPP wasalways striving to ensure political stability and democracy in the country.
Addressing a presser along with Senator Rubina Khalid, the minister said all political parties were sitting together despite their ideological differences for the sake of the country`s economic and political stability and strengthening democracy.
`The coalition government came into power after the removal of former prime minister through a constitutional way to address the suffering of people amid inflation, unemployment and poverty due to the ineffective policies of the previous government,` Ms Marri said.
About the sufferings of those affected due to the floods last year, she said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto had effectively raised the miseries of the 33 million people at international forums.
