MARDAN: Divers of Rescue 1122 and the police have been deployed along two streams in Takhtbai and Katlang tehsils here to prevent people from bathing there.

Rescue officials told Dawn here on Saturday that following the directives of Director General Rescue 1122 Dr Khatir Ahmad, district emergency officer Imran Khan Yousafzai had deployed divers accompanied by two police personnel on the two streams in Shinkidhand locality of Takhtbai and Sawaldher Habib Banda area of Katlang to create awareness among people about the danger of bathing in the streams.

They said that the team was constituted keeping in view of the expected rains and potential flooding.

The officials said that city mayor Himayatullah Mayar Advocate had asked the rescue service to deploy its divers at the dangerous points of the streams as a precautionary measure to avoid any untoward incident.

The officials said that the team would perform its duty from 8am to 8pm daily, and would take quick action in case of any untoward incident.

The officials said that the team was tasked with stopping people from taking bath in the streams. Correspondent
