SUKKUR: A suspected dacoit was killed and two of his associates were wounded in an encounter with police and Rangers personnel near Jafri village within the jurisdiction of Jamal police station in Kandhkot district on Monday.

Police officials said that personnel of police and Rangers were patrolling the area when a gang of dacoits, who were standing by the roadside with the intention of committing crime, opened fire at them. The law-enforcers returned the fire, killing an outlaw and wounding two of his accomplices, they said.

They said the other members of the gang managed to take away the wounded dacoits during the shootout. Police had taken into custody a Kalashnikov rifle and bullets lying beside the dacoit`s body of and shifted the body to hospital, they said.
