FIA thwarts bid to escape Two murder suspects held at Sialkot airport

GUJRAT: The immigration authorities of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Tuesday detained two passengers at the Sialkot airport who were attempting to flee the country after committing double murder in the precincts of Tanda police on Monday the last.
An FIA official says that during immigration clearance of Flight No G9-553, the shiftin charge ofthe departure section, was informed by Tanda police station SHO that two suspects, Jamshed Ashraf and Usman Arshad, wanted by Gujrat police in a murder case FIR No244/25, might attempt to escape the country to evade arrest.
Acting swiftly on the information, he said the suspects` records were checked and it was found that they had already moved on to the international departure lounge, as neither of them was on the stop list until then.
The suspects were then traced and arrested by the FIA officials who later handed them over to a team of the Tanda police station.
As per the police, the suspects and their accomplices had shot dead a youth, Shahzaib Aamir (27) at his doorstep over an honour-related issue at Bhelowal village of Tanda, late on lastMonday. Shahzaib`s cousin Shawaiz Abdullah of Shah Jahanian, who was injured in the firing, also succumbed to his wounds later in the hospital.
Police said the deceased, Shazaib, had contracted a love marriage with the sister of one of the suspects, Usman Arshad, some time ago against the will of the girl`s family. The suspects nurtured a grudge and shot Shahzaib dead.
The police registered the case against five nominated and two unidentified suspects under sections 302, 324, 109, 148 and 149 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) on the report of Aamir Farooq, the father of deceased and started investigation.Monday.
