MANSEHRA, July 24: Pakistan Muslim LeagueNawaz MPA Sardar Mohammad Zahoor has asked the officials of municipal administration to maintain cleanliness and lift the heaps of garbage dotting the city and its suburbs within three days otherwise legal action would be initiated against them.

`Heaps of garbage are scattered all around the city and its suburbs, which can cause outbreak of epidemics anytime if not disposed of promptly. If this garbage is not disposed of within three days then action would be taken against the officials concerned,` said Mr Zahoor while speaking to the municipal administration staff here on Wednesday.

Accompanied by traders, Mr Zahoor took notice of the unhygienic condition in the city and said that officials receiving salaries and not performing duty would be expelled from service. He also took notice of encroachments impeding smooth flow of traffic and ordered the municipal committee chief engineer Mohammad Bashir to take action without any delay.

Mohammad Siddique, the head of sanitation staff, told Mr Zahoor that the lease of garbage dumping ground had expired and the committee was in search of an alternative place for the purpose.

BUS TERMINAL: The transporters body moved the court of civil judge against bidding of the general bus terminal here on Wednesday.

The transporters pleaded before the court that it was their right to use the bus terminal. The bidding process, which was in progress for the handing over of bus terminal on one-year lease, was halted after the court issued the stay and summoned both the parties, including the transporters and chief municipal officer, on July 26 to appear before it.

Sources in the MC said that before halting of bidding process by the court a party had offered Rs24 million and more offers were being entertained.

The provincial government has ordered all municipal administrations in the province to take control of general bus terminals and auction them for appropriate annual revenue.
