KARACHI: Sindh Governor Imran Ismail on Wednesday said that Prime Minister Imran Khan`s visit to the United States was one of the most successful visits in the history of the country.

Speaking at a press conferenceat the Governor House, he said that for the first time in history a premier started his discussion with the Kashmir issue and its solution.

He said that the PM had won the hearts of Kashmiris by taking up their case during the meeting with US President Donald Trump. The issue of Kashmir would now start heading towards its resolution, he added.

`The prime minister did not ask the US president for any financial assistance to the country. He urged the US administration to increase trade and business opportunities for Pakistan,` he added.The governor informed reporters that the US was ready to open its market for Pakistan as President Trump had agreed to enhance trade with Pakistan.

It was witnessed for the first time that the Pakistani premier had sought increase in trade and business opportunities and not financial aid.

`The prime minister has also offered exchange of Dr Aafia Siddiqui with Shal(eel Afridi, said Governor Ismail. `Imran Khan has openly asked the US administration to return the daughter of the nation.Itrequirescourage and commitment which we have witnessed in the character of our prime minister.

The governor said that there were times when Pakistani leadership was not given due honour during their visit to the US but things had now changed.

Due to honest leadership in Pakistan, he said, the people of the country were also being given due respect.

`It`s a first that the US president praised the Pakistani nation and acknowledged the role and sacrifices of the people of Pakistan in the war on terror,` he said,referring to the media talk by President Trump during Mr Khan`s visit to the White House.

`The opposition is making efforts to prove the premier`s visit a failure. But the people of Pakistan are quite aware these days,` he said. `They know who is honest and have courage torepresent Pakistan with dignity before the international world. The leadership of the past only plundered national wealth for their personal businesses and families. Pakistan has suffered a lot due to bad governance and dishonest leadership.
