ISLAMABAD: Search teams found the body of retired Col Ishaq Qazi, who was swept away two days ago while travelling in a car with his elder daughter, police said.
The team found Mr Qazi`s body stuck in bushes and stones along the Soan River near DHA Phase 4, police reported. So far, Mr Q azi`s daughter, 25-yearold Muneba, an IT engineer, remains missing. His body was found on Thursday and later shifted to a hospital in Rawalpindi.
He was in his early 60s and had recently performed Hajj. He used to drop his daughter at Gate 7 of DHA Phase 2, from where she would go to her office.
On Tuesday, the man and his daughter headed to the gate in their car, despite heavy rains and waterlogged streets.
Unfortunately, the car broke down. He attempted to restart it but was unsuccessful.
Due to heavy rain and a gush of water coming from the hills near Phase 5, the water level rose to three to four feet.
In addition, the nearby nullah was overflowing.
As a result, the water swept the vehicle into the nullah.
Over the past two days, parts of the vehicle, including the bumper, doors, and tie rod, have been found in different areas along the Soan River.
