AN advertisement placed by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, which also appeared on Page 13 in Dawn`s Aug 20 issue caught my attention and left me speechless.
The half page colour ad invites proposals for redoing the national anthem`s audio and video recording, giving a long list of dos and don`ts, implying that our national anthem needs to be modernised.
One has to go no further than Google to learn that Pakistan is at second position in countries with the best national anthems. I wonder what prompted the government to embark on this adventure.
I feel the government should concentrate on providingquality healthcare and affordable education and employment and leave the national anthem alone.
