Punjab govt releases funds for missing facilities in schools
RAWALPINDI: The Punjab government has released Rs284.024 million for providing missing educational facilities in the seven tehsils of the Rawalpindi district, work on which will be started after Eid.[TOP]
A senior official of the District Education Authority told Dawn Rs36.809 million had been allocated for schools in Tehsil Murree, Rs22.480 million for Gujar Khan, Rs10.213 million for Taxila, Rs23.923 million for Kahuta, Rs9.289 million for Rawalpindi and Rs80.575 million for Kotli Sattian.
He said special funds have been released for schools in Rawalpindi city including Rs3.571 for Satellite Town Girls School, Rs7.446 million for the construction of a building for Government Shimla Islamia High School, Rs4.528 million for Government Girls High School Pindora and Rs13.914 million for Government Girls High School Muslim Town.
The official said the government has directed for re-constructing dangerous school buildings on a priority basis so students can get an education without any problems or fears.
Work on reconstructing dangerous buildings has been started in Rawalpindi and that many buildings have been almost completed.
He said the funds will be used to provide computers to schools as well as many other missing facilities including washrooms and water facilities.
Boundary walls will be constructed as well, he said, and that the revenue department will be asked for help in demarcating the land so state land can be saved from encroachments.
