VEHARI: A woman died allegedly unattended at the emergency department of the DHQ Hospital here on Thursday.

Manzoran Bibi (40) of Chak 224-EB had a bout of asthma and she was rushed to emergency of the DHQ Hospital. She died owing to allegedly non-provision of medical treatment.

According to family members Rab Nawaz, Abid and Parveen Bibi, who were present in the emergency department, the doctors allegedly refused to provide treatment to the patient due to unavailability of oxygen.After the death, the family members staged demonstrations in front of the emergency and the DPO office.

They demanded registration of a murder case against duty doctors and paramedical staff. However, the protesters dispersed on an assurance by SP (investigation) Ms Zubeda Parveen.

The SP said the matter related to the deputy commissioner and the heath department.

Duty doctor Aleem denied the charges and said the patient died during treatment.

Station House Officer Danyal Gulam Murtaza, who was present on spot of the protest, said the patient had died before provision of any first aid at the emergency department.
