Three mines found floating in nullah

2017-08-25
NAROWAL: One anti-tank mine and two anti-personnel mines were found floating on Thursday in the Nullah Dek near Tetra village.

The bomb disposal squad of the Narowal Civil Defence Department defused them.

This season, the squad has defused several mines in local rainy nullahs, which they believe flowed into the Pakistani territory from India. These Indian mines and other explosive material flow into Pakistan from the Line of Control and Worl(ing Boundary Line.

In August, the squad pulled mines and other explosive materials from the Nullah Dek near Jandialah, Tetra, Diva, and Husain Shaheed Post. The materials included five antitank mines, two personnel mines, one three-in-one antitank mine and one P-5 anti-tank mine.

District Civil Defence Officer Narowal Muhammad Riaz Wahla said two buffaloes had been killed when they put their hoofs on anti-personnel mines near villages Jandiah and Lehri. He said they had announced in the villages around the Nullah Dek about the possible presence of explosives in the nullah water. Correspondent
