Desecration info leads police to skulls

ISLAMABAD, Sept 24: City police are investigating a case of burning of printed religious material brought to their notice by a religious group.
Shahzad Town police said that a `fair amount` of the burnt and soaked material was found lying along side skulls and other body parts inside an abandoned house in Pindorian village on Tuesday.
A case was registered against unidentified persons under PPC 295-B when the religious group visited the Shahzad Town police station with the information and demanded legal action against the unidentified person or persons responsible for `the desecration Police found in the house body parts, including skulls, along with the material burnt and soaked.
The police seized the material and registered the case in response to a complaint lodged by a villager Mohammad Shakil Abbasi. After the registration of the case, the religious leader and elders of the village left for their homes.
However, in the evening youngsters of the village gathered near the house.
Later, they blocked the Islamabad Expressway and pelted passing vehicles with stones. They demanded early arrest of the accused.A police official told Dawn that the religious leaders and elders of the area were satisfied with the police progress in the case. As there is no one nominated in the case,theidentification and arrest of the accused will take time, he said.
Preliminary investigation suggested the incomplete house had been lying abandoned for the last couple of years, the official said adding its owner was a bookbinder and used to bind the religious material, which he kept there.
In recent rain, the nearby Kurang Nullah swelled and its water entered the house which soaked the religious material, he said.
The official further said that burnt religious material and ashes were taken into custody.
The complainant, Mohammad Shakil Abbasi, told Dawn that some unidentified person(s) had burnt the religious material after wrapping them in thread.
He said skulls were also found from the house which suggested that it was the case of black magic.
The house owner hails from Kashmir, he said, adding that but those who were involved in the desecration were yet to be identified.
