Protests against church attack continue

ISLAMABAD, Sept 24: The capital, which had observed violent protests on Sunday and Monday following Peshawar blasts, remained peaceful on Tuesday as a few rallies were held to condemn the blasts.
The attack on the All Saints Church in Peshawar occurred on Sunday in which over 85 Christians were killed, while 150 others were injured.
On Tuesday, a unity walk was held from China Chowk to D-Chowk to show solidarity with victims of the attacks.
The local leadership of Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf also participated in the protest.
Because of these rallies, certain roads, including Islamabad Highway and Jinnah Avenue, remained closed for a few hours.
The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) also condemned the attacks.The party`s secretary general, Sardar Latif Khan Khosa, in his statement said such terrorist attacks were abhorrent and repellant to common sense.
`The PPP demands adequate compensation to the deceased and the injured.
Furthermore, it demands a thorough inquiry into the security lapse which resulted in the causalities,` he said.
The employees union of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) also held a rally from the National Press Club to China Chowk.
The union`s general secretary, Chaudhary Mohammad Yasin, while condemning the incident, said, `We are with the aggrieved families of those who were killed or injured by terrorists. The incident has brought a bad name for our country at a time when our government has offered terrorists the option of dialogue.
The Pakistan ExServicemen Association also expressed concern over the attacks and termed it a gross violation of teachings of Islam.
