GIK Institute to engage alumni to inspire students

SWABI: The Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology will strengthen interaction with the GIK Institute Alumni Association for the beneñt ofits students.

This was stated by participants of a meeting which was held in the institute on Saturday in honour of the association`s new president Barrister Habil Ahmad Khan. He was accompanied by Junaid Kalim, former president of the association, and various other members.

GIK Institute rector Prof Dr Fazal Ahmad Khalid, pro-rector admin and finance Sardar Aminullah Khan, deans,directors and students attended the gathering.

The alumni paid tribute to the founder of the GIK Institute late Ghulam Ishaq Khan.

They discussed the students` scholarships, internship programme in leading companies, role of the alumni in strengthening the quality of education, result-oriented engagement of GIK Institute faculty and students with alumni, holding of seminars and vocational training, etc.

Prof Khalid said that holding conferences and workshops were the best option to keep the alumni engaged and get inspiration and benefit from their experiences in the industrial field. `We know that ouralumni are a huge source of inspiration for us,` he said.

Habil Ahmad said that they would work hard to bring all alumni in the association to make it stronger. Mr Kalim lauded the role of the rector for providing them opportunities to visit their alma mater.

DEMAND: The traders of Swabi city have demanded a permanent stand for autorickshaws to prevent the drivers from wrong parking on the roadsides for picking commuters and causing traffic problems in the marl(et areas.

President of the city traders Mohammad Ali said in a meeting on Saturday that the traffic police should chalk out a strategy to avoid mess on the roads by designating a proper stand for autorickshaws.
