Khyber admin announces heavy fine for outlaws

LANDI KOTAL, Oct 24: The Khyber Agency political administration has announced heavy fine for outlaws, especially target killers.

The announcement was made by Political Agent Mutahir Zeb during a jirga of Zakhakhel, Shalmani and Shinwari elders here on Thursday.

The political agent said Rs1 million and Rs500,000 would be imposed on killers and those injuring people on or near roads in KhyberAgency.

He, however, said the families of the slain persons could contact the political administration for the killers` trial.

`The aim and objective of such punitive action is to prevent heinous crimes in Khyber Agency and ensuring a peaceful atmosphere, he said.

The political agent expressed displeasure at the absenteeism at government schools and hospitals andwarned that teachers and doctors absenting themselves from duty would be dealt with strictly.

He said the administration was aware of acute shortage of drinking water in Landi Kotal and was planning to install solar-powered tubewells in the area to address the problem.

Mr Zeb said a spacious car parking space would be built at Landi Kotal Bazaar and funds generated from the parking fee would be utilised for the beautification and cleanliness of the bazaar.

Meanwhile, Assistant Political Agent of Jamrud found three teachers during surprise raids on local government schools on Thursday and recommended disciplinary action against them.
