Two killed in Swat road accident

MINGORA, Oct 24: A security man and a child were on Thursday killed and four others injured when an over-speeding dumper truck veered off the road and hit passers-by at Madyan here.
A local police official said the dumper truck, carrying raw material for the underconstruction Kalam road, went out of its driver`s control and hit passers-by at Barkeley area.
The vehicle then plunged into a trench along the road.
As a result, Lance Naik Shahzad and Imadullah, a student of class 9th, were killed on the spot.
The injured identified as Mohammad Rafique and his five-year-old son Ihsan, Bilal of Shahgram Madyan and driver Wasiyat Shah of Charsadda, were shifted to hospital.
Eyewitnesses said the truck went out of driver`s control due to brake failure owing to overload.
The police registered case and started investigation.
DENGUE CASES: Twenty-eight more residents of Swat on Thursday tested positive for dengue at Saidu Group of Teaching Hospitalhere.
According to Dr Wasil Khan, focal person for dengue emergency unit, of the 4,923 patients admitted to hospital 4,670 had been discharged after treatment.
He said that presently 95 patients, including 62 men, 28 women and six children, were under treatment while 37 were discharged during last 24 hours.
He said that 15 patients, including 13 men and two women, were in critical condition and they had been admitted to high dependency unit of the hospital.
NOMENCLATURE CHANGED: The University of Swat on Thursday notified the change of nomenclature of department of journalism and mass communication to department of media and communication studies.
According to a notification, the syndicate in its meeting held on September 20, 2013 had approved change of nomenclature of the department.
`Change in nomenclature of journalism department and university`s official logo has been approved by the syndicate,` said the notification.
