SWABI, Oct 24: The Municipal Committee Zaida (MCZ) has received Rs2.5 million of the Rs5 million sanctioned by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for it to meet expenses and improve efficiency in the current fiscal.

A local official said the money had been released to MCZ due to the efforts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Speaker Asad Qaisar.

Mr Qaisar won election from PK-35, Swabi-V, while Zaida is part of his constituency.

During the campaign of the last election, the people and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) activists had informed their leaders that MCZ confronted multiple problems and thus, causing misery to the local population.

During his campaign for by-election in NA-11, Swabi, Asad Qaisar`s brother and current MNA Agibullah Khan had promised early release of the funds to MCZ in case of victory.

The official said the remaining funds were likely tobe released soon and in that respect, the MCZ officials were in contact with the government officials concerned.

`We feel the committee will get the remaining amount of money very soon.

The money will be used for purchasing equipment and other stuff,` he said.
