19 gold medals awarded at Greenwich University convocation

KARACHI: A total of 333 degrees five associate degrees, 213 undergraduates, 108 graduates, seven MPhil and 19 gold medals were awarded to the students for academic excellence of each department at the 12th convocation of the Greenwich UniversityatitsKarachicampusonSaturday evening.On the occasion, Greenwich University also conferred Honoris Causa PhD degrees, the highest academic honor conferred by the university, to extraordinary individuals in recognition for their outstanding achievements in their respective fields. The recipients were renowned writer and host Anwar Maqsood, chairman Din Group of Industries S.M. Muneer and retired Air Commodore Shabbir Ahmed Khan.

Addressing the convocation, Chancellor ofGreenwich University Seema Mughal said that the aim of the university was not only to prepare students for a better future for themselves but also for them to come forward and use their education and knowledge in a vibrant way for the betterment of society and for a brighter Pakistan.

She said Greenwich had been working progressively on its mission for the last three decades and has already crossed many milestones in the process including the openingof a campus in Mauritius last year. She said that the venture would surely generate foreign exchange for Pakistan.

Javed Jabbar, former federal information minister, retired Gen Mohammad Siddique, Arif Habib, chairman Arif Habib Group, Sardar Yaseen Malik, chairman of Hilton Pharma, Dr Sirajuddin Aziz, president and CEO, Habib Metropolitan Bank Ltd, and Sultana Siddiqui, president Hum TV network, also spoke.
