LARKANA: A batch of 20 Sindh United Party (SUP) activists, including its senior vice president Roshan Buriro, sat on a 24-hour hunger-strike near the shrine of Qaim Shah Bukhari on Tuesday as part of the party’s series of protest against the six canals planned to be drawn from the Indus River.

The SUP believed the canals project would ruin Sindh’s agriculture sector.

The others who joined the hunger strike included Asghar Qureshi, Ms Zuriyat Bijarani, Dr Mazhar Mughal, Sadaruddin Bhatti, Manzoor Shaikh, Aftab Sindhi, Hamal Khushk, Dr Mumtaz Shaikh, Wali Mohammed Suhryani, Khadim Ghanhro, Mehmood Bhutto and Hafeez Kori.

Dr Safdar Abbasi, the general secretary Grand Democratic Alliance, specially joined the hunger strikers camp as a token of solidarity.
