ABBOTTABAD: Experts here on Tuesday asked the farmers to fully benefit from different projects of the agriculture department, including use of modern technology, for making the district self-sufficient agriculturally.
They were speaking at an awareness session about the PM`s Agriculture Emergency Programme held here for farmers from different parts of the district.
Sharing details about the programme, district director agriculture extension programme Mukhtiarur Rehman Yusufzai saidthat the provincial government was going to provide subsidy to the farmers at the rate of Rs1,200 per acre on certified seeds and Rs900 per acre subsidy on the use of pesticides and insecticides on a total area of 2,850 acres in the district.
He said that the government was committed to improving agricultural output by providing technical and financial assistance to the farming community as the increased agricultural produce would not only help the country becomeself-sufficient in food items, but alsomake the growers economically prosperous. Mr Yusufzai also spoke about the ongoing projects of the agriculture department and asked the farmers to revive their agricultural habits and avail of the government support to ensure food security and development of the sector.
Deputy commissioner, Abbottabad, Tariq Salam Marwat also addressed the participants of the session and urged them to use modern technology and methodologies for enhancing their per acre yield. Correspondent
