Rs6.12bn flour subsidy given to DGK division

DERA GHAZI KHAN: The Punjab government has provided a subsidy of Rs6.12 billion on flour to Dera Ghazi Khan division during six months while 9,754,943 bags of 10kg atta were distributed.
The daily wheat quota to 71 flour mills of DG Khan division was also increased.
This was stated by Commissioner Khalid Manzoor while presiding over a video link meeting in which deputy commissionersof DeraGhaziKhan,Taunsa,Muzaffargarh, Layyah, Rajanpur and Kot Addu participated.
The commissioner said the daily quota of subsidised flour and the trucking points have also been increased in DG Khan division; now 75,530 bags of flour are being given to the citizens on a daily basis.
He said subsidised flour will also be available at 536 designated shops. A subsidy of Rs648 per bag is being given on 10 kg flour bag.
The commissioner issued orders to take strict measures to stop illegal movement of flour, wheat and fertiliser. He said with a view to ensuring quality fiour, samples should be taken from mills and analytical reports be obtained.
Deputy Commissioner Dera Ghazi Khan Muhammad Anwar Baryar said the record of trucking points has been computerised to discourage hotel owners and other businessmen who used to get subsidised flour in the guise of commoners.
He said performance of price control magistrates is being monitored. Staff have been activated at Salchi Sarwar, Rakhi Gaj, Bawata, Taraman and other check posts. Wheat grinding at flour mills and sales at sale points are being monitored on a daily basis.
