BAHAWA LNAGAR: Three gunmen looted cash from staff and patients at a private MRI clinic on Chishtian Road on Tuesday.
Clinic owner Waseem said the gunmen came on a motorcycle, held staffers and patients at gunpoint at about 8:30pm and fled after taking away mobile phones and Rs500,000 in cash. He said that despite timely information, the police had yet to trace the culprits.
According to A-Division police, an FIR has been filed and raids have begun. Earlier on Jan 22, three masked gunmen struck the house of Mazhar in Mauza Ganeshpura and fled with cash and jewellery.
A few hours later, five dacoits shot at and injured Imtiaz in Mauza Dhab Sucha Singh when he offered resistance.The public demanded that the IGP take notice of the poor law and order in Bahawalnagar.
On the other hand, DPO Muhammad Esa Khan claimed that district police arrested 372 criminals,445courtabsconders and four gangs, as well as seizing drugs and illegal arms.He went on to say that more than Rs32.086 million in stolen goods had been returned to their rightful owners.
Also, the insurance cheques for employees who died during service and dowry funds for employees whose daughters got married were distributed.
Actions were being taken day and night to eradicate crime in the district. The police urged the people to also report the criminal elements to 15 nearby police stations.
