Govt asked to complete Shangla uplift schemes

SHANGLA: The residents of Lilownai, Hayatabad and Police Line Colony have demanded of the government to complete the developmental projects left incomplete by the contractors.
They told journalistshere the other day that several uplift schemes were left halfway by the contractors. They said that the project of installation of solar panels on Lilownal road was also left incomplete by the contractor.
Waheed Akhtar, a local, said that government had allocated funds for installation of solar panels two years ago but the contractor left the scheme incomplete.
He said that work on construction of water tank was started three years ago but the project was yet to be completed. `The contractor brought two bags of cement, two wheelbarrows of sand and some bricks for constructing the water tank. An engineer of communication and worl(s department termed the brick of poor quality and stopped him from using them. Later the contractor used the same bricks but could not complete the pro-ject in three years,` he added.
Jamshid Ali, another resident of the area, said they were facing shortage of drinlcing water owing to absence of water tank. He said they wanted the government to complete the uplift schemes in the area.
Meanwhile, a conference was held at government primary school Apurito mark International E ducation Day.
Teachers, social activists and students attended the event. The conference was addressed by Sayed Sajid Shah, Fazl Mohammad, Kifayatullah, Syed Adil Shah and others.
They urged the parents to equip their children with education to ensure their better future.
