KARACHI: The Government of Pakistan have constituted the first Tariff Commission for an initial period of three years, states an extraordinary issue of the Gazette of Pakistan. The Commission, which will deal with the question of extending protection and assistance to various industries in Pakistan will consist of a Chairman, a member and a secretary with its headquarters at Karachi.

The Commission ... will start functioning ... under the chairmanship of Dr Nazir Ahmed, Joint-Secretary, Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs. Syed Moazzemuddin Hossain, a Director of the Pakistan Industrial Finance Corporation, will be the member of the Commission, which may ultimately be turned into a fullfledged Tariff Board.
