Abid, Sarwar and Raja smash centuries on first day

KARACHI: Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited`s (SNGPL) opener Abid Ali struck an impressive unbeaten 173 against Eshaal Associates on the opening day of their ninth and final round match of the President`s Trophy Grade-I at the UBL Sports Complex in Karachi on Tuesday.
Abid`s knock, his 31st firstclass century, included 24 fours and one six as SNGPL ended the day at 270-8 in 78 overs. For Eshaal Associates, Asad Raza took four wickets for 54.
Centuries by Sarwar Afridi (123, 15 fours, two sixes) and Raja Hamza (103, 16 fours, one six) helped Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) post a solid 361-5 in 91 overs against the Higher Education commission (HEC) at the State Bank Stadium.Left-arm spinner Mansoor Ali took three wickets for 97 runs in his 27 overs for the HEC.After being put into bat by Wapda, Ghani Glass were posted 286 all out in 81 overs at the NBPSports Complex.
Saad Nasim, coming to bat at number six, top-scored with 94, which included 13 fours. Shadab Khan was another notable rungetter for the side, scoring 70 laced with seven fours.
For Wapda, Akif Javed took four wickets while Khalid Usman and Mujtaba Khan claimed three each.
Mohammad Irfan`s sevenwicket haul helped Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) dismiss the State Bank of Pakistan for a paltry 119 after they were put into bat at the KCCA Stadium.
In reply, KRL were also bowled out for 150 in 48.4 overs with left-arm spinner Kashif Bhatti bagging four wickets.
At stumps, SBP were 8-0 in their second innings, still trailing by 23 runs.-Agencies
