LARKANA: Workers of the Jamait Ulema-i-IslamFazal (JUI-F) held demonstrations on Tuesday in almost all major cities and towns of Sindh in protest against the controversial six-canal project planned on River Indus.
They took out a rally from Jamia Islami Madressah in Larkana.
In the lead of JUI-F Larkana emir Moulana Nasir Mehmood Soomro, the participants assembled outside Jinnah Bagh after marching on the main thoroughfares, carrying party flags, banners and placards.
Addressing the marchers, the protest leaders condemned the federal government`s intention of constructing six canals on River Indus.
They said Sindh was already facing acute shortage of water to irrigate its land and the canal project would ruin province`s agriculture.
They demanded the Centre to withdraw the plan immediately and stop snatching away Sindh`s rights.
The JUI-F chapters of Jacobabad and Kandhkot also took out ralliesagainst the construction of canals and the lawlessness in the two districts.
In Jacobabad, a large rally was held, starting from Madrassa Qasimul Uloom Jacobabad. A rally was taken out in Kandhkot against the controversial decision of the federal government.

In Mirpurkhas, the JUI-F held a meeting at 78 Mori and passed resolution against the `anti-Sindh` six new canals.
Later scores of workers and office-bearers of the party, including Qaisar Nawaz Nohri, Moulana Ishaque Nohri and QariFida Hussain Banglani, held a big demonstration outside the local press club.
The Awami Worker Party and Sindh United Party also held a demonstration outside the local press club in protest against the six-canals project and growing lawlessness in the province.
