T HIS refers to the negligence of the Sindh Blood Transfusion Authority which does not carry out blood screening properly. As a result,contagious diseases are spreading.
Diseases like HIV and hepatitis are likely to spread in the province. A recent report said that these malignant diseases are spreading because blood screening is being done using low quality and secondhand instruments.
In Larkana, many people have become victims of HIV and in Karachi hundreds of children have become hepatitis patients.
People come to blood banks to save lives of their near and dear ones. If these blood banks, laboratories and medical institutions will not provide them safe blood and health services, where will they go? The government should take action against such negligence.
