Police team escapes attack

ISLAMABAD: A police team narrowly escaped a firing incident as it was rounding up beggars on Saturday.
According to the police, a team comprising four personnel, including a policewoman, saw some beggars at PRC Chowk in the area of Margalla police station. When it tried to arrest them, two persons riding a motorcycle without a registration plate intercepted the team.
The motorcyclists asked the police not to arrest the beggars, as a result of which an argument ensued between the two sides. In the course of the argument, one of the motorcycle riders opened fire on the police.
The police personnel escaped unhurt, however, the motorcyclists as well as the beggars managed to escape. A case was registered with the Margalla police station on charges of PPCs 324, 353 and 186, they added.
In another incident, a census team was manhandled by a family, police said on Saturday.
A census team came over to a house in Merabadi in G-12 to collect data.
When the staff asked the man of the house to provide his CNIC, he refused and started misbehaving. He also called a woman from the house who attacked the lady constable, police said, adding that the family misbehaved and scuffled with the police and census staff and refused to provide data.
A case was registered with Golra police station on charges of PPCs 354, 186, 353 and 34.
