LAHORE: The Lahore Development Authority has completed construction work on 2.1-km link road from LOS Ferozeour Road to Multan Road worth Rs4.35 billion and openedittotrafHc.
According to an LDA spokesman, the project was the first-ever road of its kind in the provincial metropolis which had been constructed by covering 40 to 60 feet wide Cantt Drain in the area.
`This dual carriageway is 11-meter wide on each side and comprised three lanes for flow of traffic on either side. Initially more than 70,000 vehicles will benefit the project and the number will substantially increase in coming days,` the spokesman claimed in a statement on Saturday.
Parking facility and footpaths have also been constructed on both sides of the road besides construction of a chamber for carrying out de-silting work of the drain on a regular basis.
The engineering wing had to face a number of challenges due to the complexity of the project, especially for shifting of utility services, he added.
According to an of ficial of the LDA, since there were some problems related to covering of drain and shifting of utility services, the project construction couldn`t be done within the time frame.
